    Your project, in practice

Choosing the scope of a first SaaS version

A SaaS is software accessible as a service. Its first version must demonstrate the usefulness of the main journey for a specific audience, before multiplying modules or markets.

Software publishers, B2B service companies, and teams wanting to transform their business expertise into a product must first choose an audience and a primary use to serve.

    On the ground · Fepi

Scattered data do not yet tell an exploitable story.

For its ESG reporting platform, Fepi had to gather information from invoices, CSV files, and ERP systems. The problem was as much in data collection as in data reading.

The mandate focused on a reporting platform that gathers these flows in a structured interface. This example shows why source connection and information presentation are designed together before adding new indicators.

For your SaaS, start with the information and action that make the service useful to its first user. Accounts, rights, support, and possible billing then extend this journey.

Between the idea and the product, many projects get stuck.

A SaaS or a web application almost never fails on the idea: it is the passage to a first solid, usable, and sellable version that blocks.

And meanwhile, the market does not wait

Every month without a product online is a month without users, without learning, and without revenue.

    A scope that never ends

Each discussion adds an "indispensable" feature. The first version is delayed month after month.

Months of delay on the market

A simpler but online competitor takes the place while the project is refined.

A prototype that does not hold up

The quickly assembled demo impresses, but does not support real users or real data.

    A budget exhausted before launch

Money goes into restarts instead of reaching users.

Deadlines and costs that spiral out of control

Without architecture or method, each addition costs more than the previous one.

    Disappointed early users

Bugs, slowdowns and poorly isolated accounts: the first impression is hard to recover.

    Poorly connected blocks

Authentication, payment, emails, data: services pile up without an overall vision.

    A product impossible to evolve

Code hastily accumulated becomes a barrier to each new feature.

A solid first version, then controlled growth

Developing a web application or SaaS starts with the uses of the first version. MVP scoping defines users, accesses, and essential functions to test product value. We then plan launch steps and feedback to guide evolutions.

    1

    Frame the product

The problem, the users, the business model, and the scope of the first version: everything is set before coding.

    2

    Design the experience

Registration journey, key screens and roles are mocked up and validated with you.

    3

    Develop the platform

Multi-account architecture, subscriptions, security, and integrations: a clean base, ready to grow.

    4

    Launch and iterate

Production deployment, measurement of real usage, and evolutions by short iterations.

What we develop in applications and SaaS

    Complete SaaS platforms

A SaaS platform may include user management, roles, subscriptions, billing, and administration. The scope of the first version retains the functions necessary for the product model. Access and data separation rules between accounts are defined from the design stage.

    Business web applications

Custom web software development can also address business use: structured entry, validation workflows, reports, and role-based access. We distinguish the internal tool used by your team from the SaaS product for multiple clients to frame appropriate functions and operations.

    Integrations and APIs

Payment (Stripe and others), accounting, CRM, transactional emails, external services: your application fits into an ecosystem, we connect it properly.

    Takeover and modernization

Your application already exists but is reaching its limits? We audit the code and data, then modernize step by step, without stopping the service.

From framing to produced in production.

    1

    Free technical audit

A 30-minute discussion about your idea or current application. You will leave with an honest assessment of feasibility, risks, and the scope of a first version.

    2

    Iterative design and development

Mockups validated, then deliveries by short iterations: you test a functional version at each milestone and the product remains continuously usable.

    3

    Launch, measure and evolve

Production deployment, usage and performance monitoring, quick fixes, and roadmap for evolutions. The contract specifies delivered code, accesses, and third-party licenses; data export is included in the scope.

    Applications and platforms in production

Products we have designed and developed, used daily by their users.

    A concrete first scope

Make a first user succeed, then expand the product.

A SaaS targets users who do not know your internal workings. For a B2B service, a reporting platform, or a tool for professionals, the first challenge is to make the product’s value accessible without permanent support.

    01

    The first delivery.

A first useful path, then evolutions guided by usage.

The first version can include registration, access to a space, a central function, and the necessary administration to assist users. The framework defines accounts, roles, and data separation between organizations. The prototype tests this journey with an identified audience.

Recurring billing, multiple plans, partner integrations, a mobile app, and advanced features are planned based on feedback. An initial version does not assume reproducing all options of an established product.

    02

    The budget over time.

Distinguish project creation from its daily operation.

Development is added to hosting, transactional emails, APIs, storage, and support. Volumes per client, maintenance, and availability needs influence operating costs. These assumptions are reexamined with initial usage.

Tests follow a user from registration to their first result, then verify access between accounts and administrative actions. Launching with a limited group helps understand dropouts and prioritize next steps.

    Your questions, our answers

How much does developing a SaaS or web application cost?

Everything depends on the scope of the first version: number of screens, roles, integrations and security requirements. We work in fixed-price phases, and the free technical audit serves to give you a realistic order of magnitude before any commitment.

How long does it take to launch a first version?

The schedule is established after defining the first user journey, accesses, and integrations. It depends on content, approvals, and technical complexity. An MVP must be usable by an identified group to collect feedback; its launch does not guarantee commercial adoption.

Can you take over an application developed by another team?

Yes. We first audit the code, database, and infrastructure, then recommend gradual modernization or targeted reconstruction, depending on the actual product condition.

Do you manage subscriptions and online payments?

Yes. Subscription plans, free trials, billing and payment (Stripe and other gateways) are part of the foundations we set up for a SaaS.

Who owns the code and data?

The contract specifies the delivered code, data, documentation, and accesses provided, as well as the conditions of ownership and transfer to another provider. Third-party components and services retain their own licenses. Export options and the exit procedure are defined during planning.

Can you host the platform in Canada?

Yes. We deploy on infrastructures hosted in Canada when your data or clients require it, and we document the chosen architecture.

Do you support the product after launch?

Yes. SaaS operation includes monitoring, backups, patches, and support according to the agreed scope. Evolutions are prioritized based on usage and user feedback. We distinguish these recurring costs from initial development and document responsibilities of your team and ours.
